The Chicken Makhni AirWrap: Zinda Foods Are Back with a Bang!
Covid-19 has hit the food-to-go industry hard across the board. As consumer eating habits are changing on a daily basis, manufacturers and retailers are being forced to make regular decisions about how to adapt. From reducing ranges on supermarket shelves to the quantity of items being produced, all companies within the industry are facing the same choice: adjust or fall behind.
One major change within the food-to-go industry is the concept of an at-work lunch. Less people are working at the office now, meaning that the typical sandwich at the desk is losing favourability. In fact, an independent survey carried out by Zinda Foods recently has found that people are not only eating more home cooked meals, but that those who are still looking to buy lunch on the go from high street retailers are on the lookout for more interesting options; options which can’t necessarily be made easily in the home kitchen.
This is where Zinda’s new Chicken Makhni AirWrap enters. In keeping with these demands for more interesting lunch options, we’ve developed the new Chicken Makhni in collaboration with Michelin Star Chef Alfred Prasad, to bring customers not just any other meal deal option, but a world class eating experience designed to transport them to their favourite Indian restaurant from the comfort of their own home.
When developing the Chicken Makhni AirWrap, Anishya (Zinda’s founder) and Chef Alfred constantly had the indulgent butter chicken recipes traditionally enjoyed at “dhabas” (North Indian road-side restaurants) at the front of their minds. The aim was to uphold Zinda’s ethos of using natural, healthy ingredients, whilst maintaining the authentic flavours of a classic North Indian butter chicken. Tender, juicy chicken in our secret rich, creamy butter chicken sauce, meets crunchy, shredded cabbage and carrots, creating a wonderfully balanced yet interesting and indulgent lunchtime option.
One of the most exciting aspects of the AirWrap is the fact that it can be enjoyed both hot and cold. Whether shoppers need a quick lunch to enjoy on the go, or if they have time to heat it up in the microwave or panini press, the AirWrap is far more versatile than other meal deal sandwiches. This means that it fits perfectly into the home office environment which some experts have pointed out will likely become the norm.
As with all our products, the proof really is in the taste – once new customers try our AirWraps, they often find it very difficult to go back to their other meal deal choices! Food journalist and blogger Erica Pilavaki, who recently wrote an incredibly generous review of the Chicken Makhni AirWrap for Chatting Food Magazine, says “it is genuinely hard to come up with new sandwich ideas, partly because most have been done before, but AirWraps are award-winning for a simple reason: they are the heavyweight champions of flavourful wraps, all while being super lightweight and lean.”
This summarises the aim behind the Chicken Makhni AirWrap perfectly – we want to bring interesting, different options to the sandwich section of supermarkets – a section which can often feel bland, repetitive and lacking imagination. With the Chicken Makhni, we hope to mix up people’s regular lunch options and offer something totally different to the ham and cheese sandwich which many people are getting bored of.
The Chicken Makhni is available across Tesco stores throughout the UK – find your nearest participating store through our store finder.
