Zinda Foods received a prestigious Sammie Award from the British Sandwich Association for Most Innovative Sandwich Product in 2017 and are currently nominated in two categories for the Quality Food and Drink Awards. Tesco began stocking the handmade filled Airwrapsin January 2019 which as part of their lunchtime Meal Deal. Zinda Foods moved into BRC Accredited premises in 2017, now employs 12 staff and supplies thousands of AirWraps to Tesco each day.
The first six months of sales in Tesco saw impressive growth and very low wastage showing the AirWrap was filling a unique gap in the market. The AirWrap base is a low carb, artisan and natural wrap which is also free of palm oil, trans fats, industrial additives, lard and preservatives.
Following the success of the launch and now with national roll out, the company’s CEO and Founder, Anishya Kumar, has exciting plans for growth. She said: “We are looking forward to embarking on the next steps of our AirWraps’ journey with multiple spin-offs including a plant-based AirWrap range and a brand refresh.”
“With the brand re-fresh we are reinforcing what the AirWrap stands for on the design of our packs and look forward to communicating this with our existing and new customers. We are also pleased to announce from the first quarter of 2020, that our AirWraps will be packaged in fully sustainable 100% bio-degradable packaging. As our AirWraps are the UK’s first palm oil free wraps, it made complete sense to continue our pledge for greater sustainability, right through to our packaging.”
Anishya is also in discussion with other retailers and parts of the food service industry looking to take on her AirWraps in the UK and Republic of Ireland.
